Silk Road Gallery was established in 2001, during a pivotal moment for photography in Iran. The early 2000s marked a period of greater press freedom, with articles increasingly accompanied by images. Artistic photography was beginning to take shape, and a new dynamism had emerged in the art scene following the revolution and the war. At this crucial time, the gallery was founded to provide a platform for showcasing the brilliance of Iranian photography.
